Marveille. Box Spring. September 17th , 2017.
A service that is often needed, not just for business reasons but also for charitable purposes, is for a company to help get rid of mattresses, box springs and other household items. Just by calling removal companies these customers have already completed a necessary and useful step in the process of getting rid of nuisance items, we would still like to give you some tips and steps that help you with this process while also answering some questions you may have. Other sites that have written articles say just "Donate Them" but, unfortunately, its not that simple. You see, some places wont accept used mattresses or box springs so this process will take care of both scenarios.
Assuming you are not a do-it-yourself-er and dont have a large pickup truck, the easiest thing to do is to call a reputable junk hauling company that can take care of the bulky items. Before calling, seek out some reviews on Angies List, Google or elsewhere so you can ensure you are letting in screened removers and professionals that will treat you and your property with respect. For example, we pride ourselves on unparalleled customer service and you can easily find testimonials and reviews on us to verify our credibility.
If all else fails then the best solution is to measure the width and length of the bed. Use these measurements and cut out a plywood deck. I would recommend cutting them into 2 or 3 smaller pieces. Cutting one large plywood deck can be difficult, especially if you have a larger size like a king or queen. Once again though check with your manufacturers guide. The flat foundation could possibly make the mattress less comfortable.
Realistically, from all of the research I have done on this (and with a girlfriend that constantly debates this point with me, Ive done my share of research), I have concluded that box springs only do two things well, and that is 1. increase the overall height of the bed, and 2. soften the overall firmness of the bed (given that the box spring is not extremely firm). Helping the mattress last longer is a distant, distant, and arguable third. As a person who neither cares for a tall bed, nor a soft bed, I found that platform beds are the most stylishly modern, environmentally-friendly pieces of furniture to complement my mattress. You simply dont need a box spring for your mattress/bed.
There are dozens of different fabric materials used to manufacture the mattress and pillow encasings that are sold on the market. Some are made from 100% cotton, some are made from polyester and some are a mix of both fabrics or are made from other materials. Some have membrane coatings bonded to them to make them dust mite and pet dander proof and some do not have any membrane coatings at all because the fabric is so tightly woven together, the dust mite and pet dander allergen cannot penetrate through the fabric at all. The big concern for most people is for their dust mite encasings to be smooth and cool for better sleeping comfort. In the old days some mattress encasings were made from crunchy plastic or stiff vinyl materials that were loud and uncomfortable to sleep on. Some of these materials would also quickly melt or come apart in a hot dryer.
