Now we are ready to hang our design wall and start using it. We just need to place bits of fabrics, blocks or quilt tops on the design wall, bring into line the corners and boundaries with the stitching lines. The consistency of the flannel will cause the fabric to fasten. There are times when we can use straight pins to break through the batting. This proves helpful in keeping all the sections in place.
To a typical person, a quilt might seem like a normal piece of bedding. But for many quilt owners this could not be further from the truth. Often they are one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Almost always they are hand made, either by the owner or from a good friend. They have intricate designs and take dozens if not hundreds of hours to create. However, since they are stitched together they usually don`t hold up to wear-and-tear like mass-manufactured blankets from a factory. This poses a dilemma for many owners.
A further piece of good news is that a design wall is not difficult to make at all. However we must take certain aspects into consideration. The larger the area of the wall, the bigger the design wall can be. It is best to have the design wall on a wall that you can stand at least eight feet away from. The best way to analyze a design is to review it standing away from it. The next decision to be taken is whether the design wall needs to be portable or fixed. If portable, then it needs to be small in size.
People who do not particularly like to make quilts using material and a sewing machine have found that they can make beautiful quilts by crocheting. When placed on a bed the quilts stand out with their bright colors and complicated designs. It has been found that designs such as Dresden plate are lovely when done by crochet. Anyone who has done any of the basic crochet stitches can complete a crochet quilt. The result is a beautiful creation that, unlike a regular handmade or purchased quilt, does not need a filler. In addition, it has the advantage that it can be turned and the same beautiful pattern is on the other side.
Just because it`s called a "quilt" display rack doesn`t mean that its use is limited to such items. Quilt racks would also be useful as in-store displays to advertise latest store deals, services, and products. You could also use these to hang curtains, which could then be use to surround your exhibitor space. Teachers can even use these to feature class artwork projects or as teaching aids. Photographers are also fond of using these to hold their background graphics during their outdoor pictorial sessions.
